I've been exploring different revenue models for my new Web page embedded chat application lately. The best alternative yet is to pay the owners of the web page using an ad revenue model. Lets take a blog author as an example. He/She would usually put an ad banner on his/her blog, instead he/she could add Kith.me and get a really useful real-time context-driven chat application where he/she can interact with his/her users, plus get payed for ad clicks.
Providing useful functionality and paying someone for using it I believe is the best way to go in this little venture. Its a win-win situation for the web site/blog owners, and it will thus hopefully make Kith.me more interesting.
I know that many object to ads, but there are ads and there are AD'S (if you get my drift :o) ); there are tasteful ways to display ads in a manner that is non-intrusive. I will try to show the Kith.me ads in an non-intrusive way that does not interrupt the social dialog.
